Things your mother shouldn’t know…
…and neither should I.
During a recent trip to the DMV, I had an hour or so to kill, so I passed the time playing games on my phone and casually eavesdropping on nearby conversations.
About the time that my impatience and anxiety set in, I caught a few highlights from a phone call one row behind me. I didn’t have to turn around to decipher that the voice was from a young male, likely in his early 20s.
What I learned in subsequent few minutes is simply unforgettable. The guy started by discussing income: he and his girlfriend expect to bring in about $10,000 a month. He currently earns $3,200, and she averages about $5,000. She sells Amway (oops, I mean Quixtar), and her mother is high up in the pyramid chain. The irony of this part of the conversation was that, despite the apparent bragging about income, the guy was hoping his aunt was going to help pay for his vacation…
Other interesting tidbits: he’s out of the military. She’s allergic to the “protection” they were using. No, he’s certain she didn’t have a reaction to an STDāthat would have affected the previous girls he had been with (his words were a bit more crude).
Of course, all of this could have been forgettable, had the guy not been talking to his mom.
